If there is one walkway that is Mangawhai, the Mangawhai Cliff Walkway is it. Part of Te Ara Roa – the national walkway system, this track takes us along the cliff tops north of Mangawhai Heads. This is a walk to do every year, and if you have not done it yet, why not do it as part of the Mangawhai Walking Weekend in 1-3 April Sure you can do it anytime of the year – but why not join others in a weekend of fun, walking and rambling in April this year.

The Mangawhai Tracks Trust has announced the completion of a new walking track as part of the Tanekaha complex just off King Road in Mangawhai. These walks can be walked all year. The Puriri Track branches off the Falls Track just before the first waterfall and is well signposted. It will feature on both Saturday and Sunday in the annual walking weekend The track follows the old paper road up a side stream for a few hundred metres before climbing above the valley. Article from Mangawhai Focus – Read your local news on Line Proceeds from the 2015 Wine and Food Festival, held in conjunction with the Mangawhai Walking Weekend, is once again the Mangawhai Tracks Charitable Trust’s primary source of funding. Trust Chair, Gordon Hosking, noted that although Trackies volunteer their time and labour, materials are needed for things like steps, boardwalks and bridges. “Each step costs $5 for materials even with the generous discounts from local businesses, and boardwalks cost around $50 a metre,” he says. Come and enjoy a great ramble this weekend in Mangawhai Welcome to our Spring Art Trail, to herald the end of winter and the start of daylight saving. 20 venues will provide a wealth of talent and innovative art works across many genre, and feature 40 of our talented artists. Also included is a display of art shown in the recent Kaipara Art Awards, at the former Smashed Pipi Gallery. Also time to enjoy a beautiful walk and lunch at one of our great cafes.
